Williams School Site Council

Williams School Site Council (SSC) is a leadership group of parents, community people and school staff members. The SSC reviews the school supplemental funds budget annually, establishes a new budget and makes modifications as necessary. The committee, additionally, reviews progress made toward school goals to raise the academic achievement of all students.  The California Education Code requires the School Site Council to develop a Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) for Consolidated Application programs operated at the school. The council must recommend the proposed plan to the local governing board for approval, monitor its implementation, and evaluate the results. At least annually, the council must revise and recommend the plan, including proposed expenditures of all funds allocated to the school through the Consolidated Application, to the local governing board for approval. The WIlliams SSC is, additionally, represented by leadership from the school’s parent partner organization WINS, and our District English Language Advisory Committee (DELAC) representative.

School English Learners Advisory Council (SELAC)

The Purpose of SELAC is to advise the principal and staff on programs and services for English learners.  SELAC also advises the School Site Council on the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

The SELAC members are parents of English Learners and parents/guardians, school staff, and/or community members as long as the minimum percentage requirement for EL parents is maintained (at least the same percentage of the SELAC membership as English learners constitute of the school’s total student population. For example, if 25 percent of the students in a school are English learners, then parents/guardians of English learners must comprise 25 percent of the SELAC membership).

SELAC shall have the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC).

District English Learners Advisory Committee (DELAC)

The District English Learners Advisory Committee meets regularly to advise the District governing board regarding District goals and objectives, and to assist in developing a district-wide plan for English Learners Education. The meetings are on Monday, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and in the District Board Room 150, and babysitting is provided in Room 149. Each school SELAC elects one of its members to serve on the DELAC.
